JAYAPURA – Pemerintah Provinsi Papua mengingatkan pentingnya perlindungan anak di tengah perkembangan teknologi informasi yang menghadirkan berbagai peluang sekaligus risiko di ruang digital.
Pesan tersebut disampaikan Wakil Gubernur Papua Aryoko A.F.
JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government has emphasized the importance of protecting children amid the rapid advancement of information technology, which presents both opportunities and challenges in the digital environment.
The message was delivered by Papua Vice Governor Aryoko A.F. Rumaropen while leading the 42nd National Children's Day commemoration ceremony at the Papua Governor's Office on Thursday (July 23, 2026).
Reading a statement from the Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, Aryoko stressed that every child has the right to grow up in a safe environment, both in everyday life and while engaging in digital spaces.
"It is the responsibility of all parties to ensure that children are protected from violence, exploitation, neglect, discrimination, child marriage, and bullying. That protection must also extend to the digital environment," he said.
According to Aryoko, effective child protection requires the collective involvement of families, schools, communities, the media, the business sector, religious leaders, traditional leaders, academics, and government institutions. Such collaboration is expected to create a safe environment that supports children's healthy growth and development.
Aryoko also encouraged children to speak up, express their opinions, and immediately report any experience or incident of violence they witness to trusted adults. He noted that the government has established the SAPA 129 complaint service as one of the official channels for reporting and addressing cases involving child protection.
Through the commemoration of National Children's Day, the Papua Provincial Government also reaffirmed its support for the BERLIAN (Joint Movement to Protect Children) initiative, which aims to build a safe, child-friendly, and inclusive environment where every child can grow, learn, and develop to their fullest potential. ***
