Ia meminta pengelola aset bersama Inspektorat segera menyiapkan jadwal pemeriksaan kendaraan.
JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government is preparing to conduct a comprehensive inspection of official government vehicles as part of efforts to improve the management of regional assets. The inspection will target vehicles that remain in the possession of former officials and employees who have been transferred to other positions or assignments.
Acting Papua Provincial Secretary Christian Sohilait said the regulation of official vehicles was necessary because government vehicles remain one of the issues in the management of regional assets. The Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia has also identified problems concerning official vehicles within the Papua Provincial Government.
Christian conveyed the directive while leading a joint morning assembly at the Papua Governor’s Office courtyard on Monday (September 14, 2026).
“We have a problem. The Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia has pointed out that we have quite a significant problem with official vehicles,” Christian said.
He instructed the asset management team and the Inspectorate to immediately prepare a schedule for inspecting the vehicles. The inspection may be conducted jointly or organized based on individual regional government agencies.
Christian also asked the eight regional government agencies that had previously attended meetings to immediately submit their official vehicle reports. The reports will serve as the basis for the inspection.
“The eight regional government agencies that held repeated meetings with me yesterday have yet to submit their reports,” he said.
Once all reports have been received, the Papua Provincial Government will hold an official vehicle assembly as part of the asset regulation process. Papua Governor Matius Fakhiri is scheduled to lead the inspection of the official vehicles directly.
In addition to the inspection, the Papua Civil Service Police Unit has begun acting to regulate vehicles that remain in the possession of individuals who no longer have the authority to use them. The action targets vehicles held by former officials and employees transferred to other assignments.
“There is only one instruction: we will come to the person concerned once. If it happens a second time, we will deploy personnel,” Christian stressed.
Christian urged employees who know the whereabouts of government vehicles to report the information to the authorities. He reminded them that the vehicles are regional government assets and must be returned when they are no longer being used for official purposes.
The regulation effort is expected to clarify the location and status of official vehicles belonging to the Papua Provincial Government. The inspection data will also provide a basis for the government to improve the management and administration of regional assets. ***
