KAMPUNG BAGUSA – The Papua Provincial Government has resumed the distribution of logistical aid to disaster-affected areas in Mamberamo Raya Regency. This time, assistance was delivered to Kampung Bagusa, the second village to receive aid as part of the province's logistical distribution efforts along the Mamberamo River (May 9).
A total of 45 aid packages were delivered to Kampung Bagusa, consisting of rice, basic food supplies, and health kits to support services at the local auxiliary health center. Despite heavy rainfall during the handover, the community showed great enthusiasm in welcoming the aid distribution team.
Team coordinator and Acting Head of the Provincial Social and Civil Registry Office, Djong Makanuway, conveyed a message from the Acting Governor of Papua.
“The Acting Governor urges the community to remain patient in facing this disaster. This aid is proof that the government is present, shares in the people’s suffering, and continues to seek long-term solutions,” he said.
He also noted that the community’s concerns regarding the need for adequate housing and repairs to the local dock will be forwarded to the Acting Governor for further action.
The head of Kampung Bagusa, Nimrot Sopimansuan, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Papua Provincial Government:
“This support means a lot to us during the disaster we’re experiencing. We feel that we are not alone,” he said.
The distribution of aid will continue to other villages as part of the Papua Provincial Government's commitment to disaster response in Mamberamo Raya Regency. ***
