JAYAPURA – The regency and municipal governments in Papua are urged to promptly submit official letters to the National Nutrition Agency concerning land availability for the construction of Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) kitchens.
These letters are necessary as the basis for site verification in support of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program initiated by the central government.
Setiyo Wahyudi, Assistant II of the Papua Provincial Secretariat, explained that the Papua Provincial Government has coordinated with all regional local governments. Most local governments have shown readiness to provide land, with some even proposing three to four potential locations.
"However, such support must be formalized through an official letter addressed to the National Nutrition Agency. The letter must specify the proposed location and the size of the land," said Setiyo on Monday (May 26, 2025), in Jayapura.
Setiyo emphasized that the minimum land area required for each SPPG kitchen is 800 square meters.
"Some local governments have proposed school premises as the site, considering them to be more strategic and efficient," he added.
According to him, a written proposal from the local government is a prerequisite before the National Nutrition Agency team conducts a field verification. "The result of the verification will determine the land’s feasibility and whether it can proceed to the planning stage for kitchen construction," he concluded. ***
