JAYAPURA – Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, has urged the Papua Provincial General Elections Commission (KPU Papua) not to be hands-off in monitoring the readiness and logistics distribution for the Repeat Gubernatorial Election (PSU) being handled by the regency/city-level KPU offices.
He delivered this statement following the symbolic handover of PSU logistics for the Papua Gubernatorial Election in Jayapura on Tuesday (June 10, 2025).
Ramses emphasized that logistics that have arrived must be immediately sorted and distributed to the regions with proper time management. He stressed that the Provincial General Elections Commission should not simply delegate responsibilities to the local offices without proper oversight.
“I urge the Papua General Elections Commission to continuously monitor the Regional General Elections Commission offices. Don’t just hand over the tasks and step back. The logistics distribution must be scheduled accurately, based on conditions in the field,” said Ramses.
He also stated that the provincial government would conduct weekly evaluations of logistics distribution progress, involving election organizers and security forces.
“We will evaluate the progress every week together with the General Elections Commission, Election Supervisory Agency, Indonesian National Armed Forces and Police. We want to ensure that everything goes according to plan,” he said.
Ramses expressed hope that cross-sector collaboration would ensure the revote is carried out safely, orderly, and on time, with no potential delays. According to him, the success of the upcoming revote greatly depends on the effectiveness of logistics distribution. ***
