JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government plans to export processed merbau wood products.
“The exports will be shipped directly from Jayapura Port to the destination country, without passing through other ports,” said Acting Head of the Papua Provincial Department of Trade and Industry, Hartati Sofia Iwanggin.
In addition to wood exports, the provincial government also plans to export other Papuan commodities to countries that need them.
“We also plan to export briquettes and coconuts to countries that demand them,” Hartati added.
To realize this, she emphasized the need for coordination, communication, and collaboration among related agencies.
“With the increase in export activities from Papua Province, we hope this will have a tangible impact on the region’s economy through increased Regional Original Revenue and job creation,” she stated.
She also expressed hope that synergy with various related agencies will foster the development of other potential export commodities, which can also be shipped through Jayapura Port.
Previously, a meeting was held in the conference room of the Papua Provincial Department of Trade and Industry on Thursday, July 15, to discuss this export matter.
The meeting was also attended by the Acting Head of the Forestry Department, Aristoteles Ap, along with other related agencies. ***
