JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government has begun taking preventive measures against the circulation of adulterated rice.
“So far, adulterated rice has not entered Papua. However, the provincial government, together with relevant agencies, has started to take precautions, as it is possible that this type of rice could eventually reach the region,” said Acting Head of the Papua Provincial Trade and Industry Office, Hartati Sofia Iwanggin.
The government plans to carry out extra field supervision through an already established task force.
“We will meet to align our perspectives regarding the steps we will take, under applicable rules and regulations,” she explained.
Distributors supplying goods to Papua are also being urged to be vigilant about the potential circulation of adulterated rice. Certain rice brands are currently under close monitoring to ensure they do not enter Papua.
“There are several brands of adulterated rice that must not be brought into Papua, and we need to supervise those brands together,” she emphasized.
She also called on the public not to worry, as there have been no findings of adulterated rice in Papua so far. ***
