JAYAPURA, Sept 11, 2025 – The Papua Coffee Festival 2025 officially opened its eighth edition at the Papua Representative Office of Bank Indonesia. Acting Regional Secretary of Papua Province, Suzana Wanggai, together with the Regional Leadership Communication Forum, attended the ceremony ahead of the main event scheduled for September 20–22 in Jayapura.
In her address, Suzana praised Bank Indonesia’s consistent support in showcasing Papua’s premium coffee. “Papua coffee is not only about taste, but also about our cultural identity. Together, we must ensure Papua coffee reaches international markets,” she said.
Head of Bank Indonesia Papua Representative Office, Faturachman, highlighted the festival’s journey since its first edition in 2018. “What began as a response to limited coffee availability has now grown into a driver of Papua’s economic development,” he stated.
This year’s theme, “From the Mountains, Valleys, Shores, to the Global Market,” underscores Coffee Festival's mission to position Papua coffee as a globally competitive product while creating jobs and enhancing community welfare.
With strong collaboration between the government, Bank Indonesia, and local farmers, the Coffee Festival is set to strengthen Papua’s role in the international coffee industry and unlock new opportunities for sustainable economic growth. ***
