SENTANI – Acting Governor of Papua, Agus Fatoni, attended a joint prayer service together with the congregation of the Evangelical Church in Indonesia (GIDI) Holandia, on Friday (September 19, 2025). The service, held at theHouse of Prayer for All Nationsin Sentani, Jayapura, was led by Rev. Lipiyus Biniluk, a respected religious leader in Papua.
In his message, Rev. Biniluk emphasized prayers for the well-being of the Governor, the community, and the overall safety of Papua.
“We prayed that the Governor would be blessed by God, along with everyone in this province. We prayed that the situation in Papua remains safe and under God’s protection—that is the prayer we have lifted,” he said.
Rev. Biniluk also underlined the importance of unity and harmony in Papua following recent political events, including the revote.
“PSU is only a five-year momentum. Whatever the outcome, we must be grateful and continue to maintain unity. We, as interfaith leaders, will continue to pray so that Papua remains safe and peaceful,” he concluded.
On the same occasion, Governor Fatoni, together with the Papua Provincial Government, extended assistance to the congregation of the GIDI Holandia Church in Doyo Lama, Waibu District, Jayapura Regency. The support is part of the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening religious life, supporting education, and fostering interfaith harmony in Papua.
Governor Fatoni reaffirmed the role of the provincial government in supporting religious activities and facilities across the region.
“Today we are grateful to be able to assist and visit the Evangelical Church in Indonesia Holandia. Earlier, we also witnessed and directly joined the prayer service,” he stated.
He further highlighted the importance of safeguarding peace, tolerance, and togetherness in Papua.
“We hope and pray that our beloved Papua will remain safe, peaceful, tolerant, and harmonious. Let us work together, avoid provocations, and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood. Only then can we realize a prosperous and advanced Papua,” Governor Fatoni said.
This activity reflects the Papua Provincial Government’s consistent efforts to promote religious harmony, social solidarity, and inclusive development across the province. ***
