JAYAPURA, September 15, 2025 – Chairman of the Household Affairs Committee (PURT) of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI), Hasan Basri, praised Acting Governor of Papua, Agus Fatoni, describing Papua as “very fortunate” to be led by him. Hasan highlighted Fatoni’s extensive experience, having been appointed as Acting Governor in four different regions, and his expertise as Director General of Regional Financial Development at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

“Papua is led by someone who deeply understands budgetary matters and maintains strong ties with the Ministry of Finance and other national institutions,” Hasan said during a consolidation meeting with Fatoni at the Papua Governor’s Office.

Hasan also commended a recent peaceful demonstration in Papua, calling it an example for other provinces, as participants not only expressed their aspirations peacefully but also cleaned up afterwards.

On the same occasion, the Papua Provincial Government and DPD RI signed an MoU to accelerate the establishment of a DPD RI Office in Papua. Initially, the office will occupy the 13th floor of the Papuan People’s Assembly (MRP) Tifa Building through a borrowing-use mechanism, in line with regulations.

Fatoni expressed hope that the new office will strengthen dialogue between the people of Papua and their representatives in the DPD RI. ***
