JAYAPURA – The Border Trade Fair (BTF) RI–PNG 2025, held in the Neutral Zone of Wutung on the Indonesia–Papua New Guinea border, officially closed on Saturday (October 11).
The event served as a platform for economic and cultural exchange, bringing together communities from the two brotherly nations — Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
Acting Regional Secretary of Papua, Suzana D. Wanggai, said the fair not only strengthened cross-border trade relations but also reinforced the spirit of unity, friendship, and mutual respect in the border region.
This year’s theme, “From Border to the Bridge”, built on three pillars — Connect, Collaborate, and Create — was successfully embodied throughout the fair.
“We have connected through close economic and social interactions, collaborated in cross-border partnerships, and created new ideas and opportunities for a more prosperous future for border communities,” Suzana said.
Through this exhibition, Indonesia demonstrated to the world that border communities reflect the true essence of tolerance, diversity, and brotherhood.
“The culture we showcase, the products we trade, and the cooperation we foster are proof that national borders are not barriers but bridges toward shared progress,” she added.
Suzana also expressed her appreciation and gratitude to all parties who contributed to the event’s success — including the Government of Papua New Guinea, National Border Management Agency of the Republic of Indonesia, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the National Police, MSMEs, and border communities.
“May this collaboration continue to grow, fostering sustainable cross-border economic activities and strengthening the friendship between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea in the years to come,” she concluded. ***
