JAYAPURA – Papua Deputy Governor Aryoko Rumaropen, accompanied by heads of regional government agencies, officially opened the Affordable Food Movement activity held at Organda Housing Complex, Hedam Subdistrict, Heram District, Jayapura City. (May 6)

This activity is a strategic step by the Papua Provincial Government to maintain food price stability, ensure the availability of staple goods, and control the regional inflation rate. Through the Affordable Food Movement, the public can obtain necessities at more affordable prices with easier access.

The implementation of the Affordable Food Movement involves various parties, ranging from distributors, local farmers and livestock breeders, to support from state-owned enterprises in Papua, as well as synergy with Bank Indonesia. This collaboration is expected to shorten the distribution chain while strengthening food security in the region.

In his statement, the Papua Deputy Governor emphasized that the Affordable Food Movement is a concrete form of the government's presence among the community.

"The Papua Provincial Government is committed to continuously maintaining price stability and food availability for the community. Through this Affordable Food Movement, we are not only helping people obtain staple goods at affordable prices, but also suppressing inflation and strengthening the role of farmers and local business actors. Going forward, we will continue to encourage activities like this so that the benefits can be felt more widely by the community," the Deputy Governor said.

Public enthusiasm was high during the activity. One resident of Organda Housing Complex, Mrs. Klemen, expressed her appreciation for the implementation of the Affordable Food Movement.

"We are very grateful to the Papua Provincial Government for bringing this Affordable Food Movement here. It has really helped us because we can buy necessities at low prices without having to spend money on transportation. We hope activities like this will be held often to help underprivileged communities. We are also grateful to have been able to meet the Deputy Governor in person," she said.

Through this activity, the Papua Provincial Government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining people's purchasing power, strengthening food distribution, and building cross-sector synergy to realize sustainable welfare for the people of Papua. ***
