JAYAPURA - Papua Province is confirmed to have won two gold and one silver medal at the National Sports Week (PON) XX in 2021.
The medal donation was obtained from the sport Cricket (gold and silver) and Kite-Flying (gold), on Sunday (09/26/2021).
Chairman of the Papua Contingent, Mathius D. Fakhiri who was present at the Cricket Venue, Doyo Baru, Jayapura Regency expressed appreciation for the achievements of the two sports.
"As the chairman of the Papuan contingent, I also represent all the people of Papua. We are grateful that our athletes can win two gold and one silver," Fakhiri said.
With this achievement, it is hoped that Fakhiri can be a driver for other Papuan athletes who will race in the coming days.
"Hopefully this achievement can motivate all of us, especially other athletes in order to get gold again for the big name of Papua," he said.
Similarly, the Chairman of National Sports Week Committee, Yunus Wonda, was proud of the best achievement, because it had greatly brought the name of the province in this national event.
"Thank God we have two gold, we expect Papua not only successful implementation, but also achievements," Yunus said.
It is known, the first gold donation of Papua was achieved by Andri Abdul Rohman from Kite-Flying on the men's precision landing number, then the Women's Cricket Team on super number 6.
