JAKARTA - Governor Lukas Enembe, SIP, MH and General Secretary of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Papua Province received the 2022 Indonesian Sports Initiator Award from the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI).
The awards to the two Papuan figures will be presented at the commemoration of the 2022 National Press Day (HPN) on February 9, 2022, which will be held in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi.
"The Sports Journalists Section of the Central Indonesian Journalists Association (Siwo PWI) will award: INDONESIA SPORT INITIATOR 2022 to the Governor of Papua Lukas Enembe and the General Secretary of KONI Papua as appreciation for those who have concern and devote themselves in the field of sports," said Chairman of SIWO PWI, Aagwa Ariwangsa, Sunday night (6/2/2022) in Jakarta, in a release received by the editor.
Ariwangsa said the determination of the two Papuan figures was taken by SIWO PWI Central as a result of observations by the Legislation Team and the decision of the Committee for the "2022 Sports Initiator".
"Hopefully, with this award, you will be more motivated to give your best for the glory and honor of the name of the Indonesian through sports," said Ari (his nickname).
This award to Governor Lukas Enembe and Secretary of KONI Papua, continued Ari, was also motivated by their dedication in encouraging sports achievements and success in organizing National Sports Week (PON). And succeeded in bringing the Papuan contingent to the 4th position nationally.
The Governor of Papua is considered capable of responding to challenges and successfully holding PON during the Covid-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, the Secretary of KONI Papua succeeded in bringing the Papuan contingent to win 93 gold medals, 66 silver and 102 bronze medals. This achievement is extraordinary, because Papua is the first winner outside Java.
"We are closely observing and getting information from various sources on the efforts of the Governor of Papua in preparing and organizing PON during the very difficult Covid-19 pandemic. While the Secretary of KONI is a young Papuan figure who has successfully brought Papua to the 4th position of the PON. This is an extraordinary achievement during PON, Papua was able to win the first place outside Java. Papua has replaced Sumatra, Kalimantan, Bali and Sulawesi, which have been in the top 5 positions for PON," he explained.
The head of SIWO PWI Center said that the two Papuan figures are popular figures in the field of sports because in the last 4 years they have succeeded in getting awards from PWI in a row.
"We hope that the governor and secretary of KONI Papua can attend to receive this award directly," said Ari, who at PON XX Papua together with the Chairman of the PWI Center, Atal S Depari, directly monitored the implementation of the national event and observed KONI Papua's steps in the contingent strategy.
