JAYAPURA – Spokesman for Papua Governor Muhammad Rifai Darus asked all parties not to interpret negative and narrow, narrative in a video clip of Governor Lukas Enembe who said Papuans are unhappy.
The context in question at the time, he continued, was empathy from a Lukas Enembe who was also dissolved in crying, seeing that many Papuans were still suffering because of security issues.
"Like the events that occurred in Puncak Regency, Bintang Mountains and in Maybrat West Papua. Where there are still many Papuans crying because of security factors. So, do not be interpreted narrowly," said Spokesman Rifai, Tuesday (15/2/2022).
In addition, he continued, the statement of Governor Lukas Enembe also reflects from official data from the Papua Central Statistics Agency (BPS) which did mention that the happiness index of Papua Province is at 69.87 in 2021.
"Although the happiness index value of Papua Province has not been satisfactory, when compared to other provinces. However, it should be noted that the increase in the Papua Happiness Index from 2014 to 2021 makes Papua Province the province with the most significant increase"
"This shows the hard work and struggle of Governor Lukas Enembe in bringing happiness to all Papuans. So with regard to that, Governor Lukas Enembe asked all parties not to interpret negatively the narrative he said in the video piece," Rifai said.
Instead, he appealed to all parties to be able to build Papua. Because of the worry, there should be no short-term political interests that actually continuously use the video pieces, to bring down the Governor.
"Included in the hoax that just circulated in connection with the Declaration of the Independent Papua Movement in Bali dated February 16, 2022 which led to his involvement," he said. ***
