JAYAPURA - Freeport Indonesia Company symbolically handed over rewards for medal-winning Papuan athletes at National Sports Week XX 2021, at Building B of the Kotaraja Autonomous Office, Wednesday (03/09/2022).
The rewards are worth a total of IDR4.9 billion, divided into IDR1 billion for the men's soccer team and gold-winning athletes from 36 sports IDR3.9 billion.
The handover of the bonus by the General Secretary of National Sports Week Committee, Elia Loupatty to the Coach of Football Team, Eduard Ivakdalam, was witnessed by Denni J. Rumayomi as a representative of Freeport Company.
"This is a process that produces athletes and achievements can be achieved with the guidance of PON and KONI Committee because of the efforts of athletes who are very focused on participating in the training," said Danni J Rumayomi as a representative of Freeport Indonesia Company while giving the rewards.
Through the submission of this reward, he hopes the achievements that have been achieved can continue to be maintained and improved in the future.
"So that the achievements of athletes from Papua do not end at the PON XX event but also in the upcoming events," he said.
While the General Secretary of National Sports Week Committee, Elia Loupatty appreciated the assistance provided by Freeport for Papua's outstanding athletes.
The aid funds will be directly transferred in the bank account of the National Sports Week Committee.
"We will only continue for example for the Men's Football Team which has a gold medal of IDR1 billion. Well, how the division will be a matter for the team (football) and we do not intervene as well as Freeport Company," said Elia.
Football Team Coach, Eduard Ivakdalam expressed his gratitude for the attention of Freeport Indonesia Company to Papuan athletes.
He also encouraged that the achievements achieved by athletes can continue to be improved, especially in addition to Freeport Indonesia, similar assistance has also been submitted by the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Erick Thohir and Chairman of Asprov PSSI Papua, Benhur Tomi Mano. ***
