JAYAPURA – ‘Cenderawasih Earth’ residents are invited to start switching or migrating to digital television broadcasts.
According to the Head of the Communication and Informatics Department of Papua, Jeri A. Yudianto, the migration of analog to digital TV broadcasts can provide savings in the use of the 700 MHz frequency band.
In addition, the TV can be rearranged and used for other services such as fast internet
"Inevitably everyone should be ready to switch to digital television broadcasting. Because the demands of digital growth that exist require this," said Jeri in Jayapura, Monday (11/4/2022).
However, Jeri assessed that this appeal was still limited to residents in Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency and Keerom Regency.
Because almost most areas in Papua do not have a maximum internet connection.
"The cessation of analog television broadcasts will begin to be implemented on April 30, 2022"
"I guess we should be prepared before the closing of analog TV broadcasts begins. So that the people are no longer shocked but have become accustomed," he said.
Jeri explained, when implementing the program, residents who already have digital television can directly receive broadcasts. It's just that, if the television is not digital or still analog, then you have to add a Set Top Box (STB) tool.
"There are two ways to get STB, first by buying it for people who can afford it, while for people who cannot afford it will be prepared by the state through Broadcasting Organizers Multiplexing," explained Jeri.
Meanwhile, for underprivileged citizens, he added, they can get free STB with the condition that they are registered in the Social Welfare Integrated Data (DTKS), have an analog TV and digital broadcast at the location where they live.
"For Papua it can already be accessed through a site prepared by multiplexing broadcasters, if not wrong at this time that has appeared on the TV screen from RCTI and the data will be taken from the DTKS," he said. ***
