JAYAPURA - Indonesian Community Recreation Sports Committee (KORMI) Papua is currently preparing athletes to compete at the VI National Recreational Sports Festival (FORNAS), in Palembang, South Sumatra, 1 - 7 July 2022.
A number of preparatory agendas include the implementation of a workshop for sports activists of the KORMI Papua community on Friday (10/6/2022) and the Provincial Recreational Sports Festival (Forprov) of KORMI on Saturday (11/6/2022) tomorrow.
The Secretary of KORMI Papua, Samson Rumbiak told reporters that a number of preparations continue to be made to achieve the high targets carried out by the management. KORMI Papua does not want to be outdone by the achievements achieved by PON and PEPARNAS athletes.
KORMI Papua, he continued, set a high target to be able to enter the top 10 in the medal standings. Because at the FORNAS KORMI performance in Samarinda 2019, the Papuan contingent was perched in 12th place in the medals.
"Our target this year should be to be in the top 10. Because we will come with careful preparation and strict selection in every type of recreational sports that are competed," explained Simson Rumbiak, Friday in Jayapura.
While questioning the implementation of athlete selection at FORPROV KORMI Papua, Samson ensured that it was only followed by activists from nearby districts and cities. Meanwhile, Yapen and Nabire Islands Districts corroborated it as the farthest area that was planned to participate in the selection.
"But in the future, of course, we hope that every district can have representation. It is mandatory to participate in a strict selection in all types of sports that will be competed," he said. ***
