PALEMBANG - The Papuan contingent from the sport Kempo Indonesia (BKI), contributed a total of 28 medals at the end of the VI National Recreation Sports Festival (Fornas), Palembang, South Sumatra, Thursday (7/7/2022).

Competing at GOR Ranau Jakabaring, the Papuan team won 9 gold, 9 silver and 10 bronze.

Edison, the coach of the BKI Papua team, admitted that he was very proud of the performances of players. Because the results achieved, exceeded the target set by KORMI Papua, although not in all numbers.

"We only have 14 activists. But the result was really unexpected. From the target of 3 gold medals, it can actually get 9 gold medals. So this is a very remarkable result," he said, after the game.

Edison is optimistic that with these positive results, the players will be more accomplished at VII Fornas West Java, next year.

"For preparations, we will make selections at the junior and senior levels. Then in October 2022, we will try out for the Asian Level Kempo championship in Bandung".

"In this championship, we will see the development of players from other regions to be used as evaluation ahead of the Fornas in West Java," he concluded.

While the 9 gold medals from Papuan Kempo are produced from word numbers, fighting semi Kempo and full Kempo. ***
