JAYAPURA - The value of Papua imports was recorded to have decreased by 24.87 percent in July 2022, which was influenced by non-oil and gas imports by 87.30 percent and oil and gas imports increased by 86.82 percent.
"The imports were recorded at USD39.82 million in July 2022 but decreased by 24.87 percent," explained the Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Papua Province, Adriana Helena Carolina, in Jayapura, Thursday (18/8/2022).
According to her, non-oil and gas commodities that have the largest import value come from the machinery and mechanical equipment group and their parts (HS84) which have a value of 0.67 million US dollars or 43.85 percent of the total import value of the main non-oil and gas commodities.
Meanwhile, oil and gas imports increased by 260.57 million US dollars, where the total cumulative imports of Papua in the January-July 2022 period were valued at 177.92 million US dollars or an increase of 46.45 percent.
"But this increase of 46.45 percent when compared to the cumulative total imports in the January-July 2021 period which was worth 177.92 million US dollars," she said.
She added that the cumulative import value of oil and gas in January-July 2022 was valued at 136.51 million US dollars, while the cumulative non-oil and gas import value of Papua was valued at 124.05 million US dollars in the January-July 2022 period.
"In addition, imports of the 10 main non-oil and gas groups in July 2022 were recorded at USD1.52 million, down 93.85 percent when compared to June 2022 of USD24.72 million," she concluded. ***
