JAYAPURA - New Zealand Government plans to increase the provision of scholarships for Papuan students studying in the kiwi-producing country.
This policy received the attention and appreciation of Papua Governor Lukas Enembe. Because the sustainability of Papuan students to pursue higher education abroad was threatened due to changes in the Papuan Special Autonomy Law.
"However, with the intention and plan of the New Zealand Government to help provide scholarships to Papuan students, it has become a joy for them. Now they can continue their education and continue their dreams of achieving knowledge as high and as far as possible".
"So that in the future, the Governor of Papua will schedule a visit to Jakarta to meet with the New Zealand Ambassador to Indonesia. The meeting will specifically discuss the education and scholarship sector for Papuan students in New Zealand," explained Papua Governor Spokesperson, M. Rifai Darus, in a release received by the editor on Friday.
Governor Lukas Enembe, according to Jubir Rifai, there is a message to all Papuan students who are now in New Zealand to continue to focus on completing their education on time.
The Governor also expressed his pride for all Papuan students spread across many countries, all knowledge and expertise gained from the place of study can be applied to realize the achievement of the vision of a Just Rising, Independent and Prosperous for Papua.
Based on data from the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) of Papua Province, it is stated that until May 2022, there are 59 students who are currently studying in New Zealand, ranging from, Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate Degree as well as professional and vocational students. ***
