JAYAPURA - The National Consultation of the Indonesian Christian Student Movement (GMKI) 2022, officially opened by the regional secretary of Papua, Ridwan Rumasukun, in Jayapura, Wednesday (24/8/2022) night.

The implementation of GMKI National Consultation is expected to make a positive contribution and strategic thinking for development in Papua.

"This includes actively contributing to the control of social and political dynamics in the land of Papua," explained Ridwan, when delivering his remarks.

The Regional Secretary on the occasion also welcomed and assessed the appropriate implementation of the GMKI National Consultation, which was centered in Jayapura City, the capital, Papua Province.

"The decision of the Central GMKI to implement National Consultation in Jayapura City is a very appropriate step. Moreover, currently the Government of Papua is focusing on development, so it requires thinking that contributes to building," he explained.

The same was conveyed by the Acting Mayor of Jayapura Frans Pekey, who also appreciated the implementation of the GMKI National Consultation in the Port Numbay area.

"We welcome with joy the presence of all participants of the GMKI National Consultation 2022. Jayapura city is open to anyone and we are ready to be a good host".

"Because all ethnic groups and religions are in Jayapura City and all circles are in Jayapura City. Therefore, according to him, Jayapura City is a safe and faithful city. Thank you to the Central GMKI for choosing Jayapura City, congratulations on implementing the GMKI National Consultation," he said.

Chairman of the GMKI Consultation Committee in 2022, Benyamin Arisoy appreciated the support of relevant local governments who contributed to the success of the implementation of the national-level consultation.

The activity was attended by 326 participants from all over Indonesia, and will discuss studies and business meetings that focus on the internal conditions of GMKI organizations.

"This includes discussing all current issues nationally and in Papua by presenting speakers from the center," he said.
