JAYAPURA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Papua stated that the establishment of three New Autonomous Regions (DOB) in Cenderawasih Earth will absorb a large number of workers.

This was conveyed by the Coordinator of the Social Statistics Function, Sugiyanto, in Jayapura, Tuesday (8/11/2022).

He said that the National Labor Force (Sakernas) survey, the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in August 2022, was recorded at 2.83 percent, down 0.50 percent compared to the previous year of 3.33 percent.

The decline in the unemployment rate is caused by several factors, including employment in the agricultural sector which reached 71.49 percent, then trade 6.78 percent and the government 5.68 percent.

"Only indeed for the pattern of employment in absorbing this workforce is still the same as in August 2021".

"Then based on the population after work, it is still dominated by elementary school graduates and below in this case there are those who have not finished by 60.14 percent, then in diploma and university graduates by 6.62 percent," he said.

It is known that the working-age population is all people aged 15 years and over where the working age tends to increase, namely as many as 2.56 million people. ***
