JAYAPURA - The Papua Provincial Government continues to encourage the strengthening of bilateral protection between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea (PNG), especially regarding the handling of cross-border services between countries at crossing points in both countries.
The strengthening was encouraged at the Bilateral Border Liaison Meeting between delegations of the Government of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea held on, Monday (12/12/2022) in Jayapura City.
One of the meetings discussed infrastructure development along the RI-PNG border area. The forum is seen as important to discuss various problems and development plans along the border area between RI-PNG.
This was conveyed by the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, in his written remarks read by the Regional Secretary, Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun, on the sidelines of the activity.,
According to Ridwan, the results of the forum discussion are very useful for the benefit of border management and handling. Including cross-border activities between the two countries carried out by residents along the border area.
"So there really needs to be a meeting to combine synergistic and serious mindsets and patterns of action so that in border handling measures, it can make a positive contribution to the border population of the two countries," he said.
Governor Enembe added that the agenda that has been agreed upon in this meeting will be seriously discussed for follow-up at the Joint Border Committee (JBC) Forum, December 15, 2022, in Jakarta.
The meeting will become a real development program in the border area. ***
