JAYAPURA - The Daily Executive of Papua Governor Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun requested that the selection process for members of the Papuan People's Assembly (MRP) can be completed in April 2023.
Ridwan said he was ready to take over the inauguration process if the selection committee and supervisory team worked "slowly".
"According to the schedule, it should have finished in May. However, looking at the condition of Papua, which is now divided into regions, it should be easy to select MRP members".
"The point here is that I challenge the election committee to be able to complete the stage at the end of April, because the National Unity and Politics Agency and Acting Governor which are directly evaluated. For this reason, instead of being evaluated, it is better for me to evaluate first," said Ridwan, after inaugurating the committee and supervisor of the selection of MRP Members in Jayapura, Wednesday (15/2).
Acting Governor Rumasukun believes that the inaugurated parties are able to complete their duties well, considering the background of the committees and supervisors who have qualified experience.
"I see the background that these committees are great people, so don't let the three DOB provinces precede," he said.
It is known that MRP Members for the 2017-2022 period have ended their term of office in November 2022. However, for the effective implementation of government in Papua Province, the Minister of Home Affairs has issued Decree number 100.2.1.4-6202 of 2022 concerning the Extension of Members of the Papuan People's Assembly for the 2017-2022 Term of Office.
The extension is to face the upcoming the election of the Governor and Deputy Governor of Papua in 2024 elections, where the stages are carried out by the KPU RI and the Papua Provincial KPU in a tiered manner as one of the requirements regarding the determination of candidates for Governor and Deputy Governor of Papua.
There are recommendations or considerations of the MRP related to the authenticity of the Papuan people in the nomination. ***
