JAYAPURA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Papua recorded a combined yoy inflation rate of 3 CPI cities in Papua of 5.05 percent in February 2023.
Inflation occurred in all CPI cities, namely in Merauke at 4.15 percent, Timika at 5.37 percent, and Jayapura at 5.20 percent.
The Head of BPS Papua, Adriana Carolina, said this to reporters in Jayapura, Thursday.
"In February 2023, there was year-on-year (yoy) inflation of 5.05 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 111.66. All CPI cities in Papua experienced inflation, where in Merauke it was 4.15 percent, in Timika it was 5.37 percent, and in Jayapura, it was 5.20 percent," she explained.
Adriana occurred that inflation due to an increase in prices indicated by an increase in the expenditure group index in the food, beverage, and tobacco group by 3.94 percent; the clothing and footwear group by 0.22 percent; the household housing, water, electricity, and fuel group at 1.91 percent and the household equipment, equipment, and routine maintenance group at 4.37 percent.
Then the health group by 1.90 percent; the transportation group at 16.75 percent; recreational, sports and cultural groups at 5.82 percent; the education group at 8.05 percent; food and beverage/restaurant supply group at 3.43 percent; and the personal care and other services group at 8.74 percent.
"Meanwhile, the month-to-month (mtm) inflation rate in February 2023, he added, was -0.61 percent and the inflation rate for the calendar year/year to date (ytd) (January-February) 2023 was -1.01 percent.
"The yoy inflation rate of foodstuffs in February 2023 is 3.03 percent, the mtm inflation rate is -1.51 percent, and the ytd inflation rate is -1.79 percent," she concluded. ***
