JAYAPURA - The Papua Provincial Government will review the allocation of disaster funds in its area, to maximize post-natural disaster management.
This was conveyed by the Daily Executive of the Governor of Papua, Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun, to the press in Jayapura, Monday (6/3/2023).
According to Ridwan, it is very important to review the allocation of disaster management to minimize casualties.
"Currently, for disaster funds, we are running as they are (with allocations already available). Hopefully, in a month or two, we can discuss again (to be added) the allocation of disaster budgets in Papua," he said.
Ridwan added that the additional allocation of disaster funds also refers to President Joko Widodo’s instruction to maximize the handling.
"At the latest, we will submit allocate (proposed addition of disaster funds) at the plenary meeting of the 2023 Amended Budget in the middle of the year," he said.
Previously, President Joko Widodo ordered local governments, including the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) to make the budget joint, especially if the area is prone to disasters.
It was conveyed by President Jokowi when giving a speech at the National Coordination Meeting for Disaster Management at JI-Expo Kemayoran Jakarta on Thursday (2/3/2023).
The Head of State also requested that local governments and BPBD be able to identify potential disasters in their respective regions so they can take into account the need for funds during pre-disaster and post-disaster. ***
