JAYAPURA - Nine Papuan women received awards from the Era Solidarity Action Organization (OASE) of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet in commemoration of the 145th Kartini Day, Friday (26/5/2023).
They are part of 514 women in Indonesia who received awards because they were considered meritorious and outstanding as women in their respective fields.
"The award is also given because nine Papuan women are considered inspirational in their fields," explained Papua Acting Governor Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun, on the sidelines of the activity.
Governor Ridwan said Raden Ajeng Kartini's struggle in bringing women's rights to be better in the future, has been felt at this time.
As a form of concern, the current government continues to encourage and motivate women to play an active role to serve the community and be involved in the implementation of development.
"One of them is through giving awards to great women with merit and achievements throughout Indonesia, including in Papua Province. So I thank you for the support and encouragement of the award given by the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet Era Solidarity Action Organization to nine meritorious and outstanding women in Papua Province."
"We also express our gratitude to women fighters in their respective fields, namely health, socio-culture, environment, agriculture, and education, which have been carried out in their regions," he said.
Meanwhile, the Governor also asked all women in Papua to interpret the lyrics "Really big ideals for Indonesia," which is a fragment of the lyrics of a song written by W.R. Soepratman.
This piece of lyrics has a deep meaning to describe the figure of Indonesian Princess Raden Adjeng Kartini.
''In the end, she became a mother for women in Indonesia. It means that her ideals are really noble for the progress of women in Indonesia, which at that time women's rights were still often degraded and even forgotten," he said. ***
