JAYAPURA - Three sports of the Corps of Employees of the Republic of Indonesia (Korpri) of Papua Province conducted sparring by participating in local official competitions ahead of the 2023 Korpri National Sports Week (Pornas) in Semarang, Central Java.
The three sports are volleyball, court tennis and futsal. While the other two sports, Korpri gymnastics and basketball do independent exercises.
Head of the Korpri Papua Contingent, Aaron Rumainum said the agenda was only as a warm-up event ahead of the Korpri Pornas tournament in the middle of next month. It does not set a target for participation in the local official competition.
"The preparation of the five sports of Korpri Papua is quite maximal. Three of the five sports have also done sparring or participated in local official competitions, one of which was held by the Papua Regional Police."
"This is a warm-up event to go to Pornas Semarang," explained Aaron in Jayapura, Wednesday (14/6/2023).
Nevertheless, Aaron made sure not to target medals at Pornas Korpri Semarang, even though each sport had the ability and spirit. Because, he added, the main thing is the participation of Papua in the Pornas Korpri event and the spirit of togetherness between fellow Civil Servants of the Republic of Indonesia.
Previously, the Daily Executive of the Papua Regional Secretary Derek Hegemur stated that the Korpri Papua contingent has been ready to participate in the Semarang Pornas on July 13-23, 2023. He hopes that the entire Papuan contingent will not only pursue achievements but also bring togetherness to the national event.
"The point is Papua gets ready to participate in the Semarang Korpri National Pornas with the target medals. So let’s prioritize togetherness more than everything among civil servants throughout Indonesia," he said. ***
