ARSO - The Acting Governor of Papua, Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun highlighted the rising prices of beef and onion commodities during his visit to Jayapura and Keerom regencies, Tuesday (4/6/2024).

He also stated that he was ready to take steps and policies if he received a request from the two regional heads.

"From the visit, we are concerned about beef and onion commodities. In the rainy season, onions are difficult but there is regional cooperation with the province, so we are ready to do the intervention needed.

"That's why we should have meetings and discussions together," Governor Ridwan told the press, after a visit to the Keerom Regent Office.

Nevertheless, the Governor appreciated the Regent of Jayapura and Keerom for maximally controlling inflation. He also hopes that the two governments will continue to work hard to control inflation, through active collaboration with the provincial government.

"Keerom and Jayapura districts have implemented (inflation control) and we hope it can be improved. So that inflation in Keerom can be controlled properly."

"By controlling, people can buy things at a low price and affordably, so that it also has a relationship with welfare," said Ridwan.

Meanwhile, after visiting the two areas, he confirmed that he would visit Waropen Regency. Because Waropen is one of the regions that received attention from the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding inflation control. 

Assistant II Papua Regional Secretariat, Setyo Wahyudi said the prices of some commodities had risen due to distribution constraints. However, currently, the condition of availability of these commodities is in a safe position and the price is stable.

"Indeed, the main thing in controlling inflation is the availability of basic commodities. This is what we maintain and monitor regularly," he said

It is known that the Acting Governor during his visit to Jayapura and Keerom Regencies was accompanied by the Acting Secretary of Papua, the Acting Chairman of the Papua PKK and the Head of Regional Apparatus Organizations of the Provincial Government. His visit was related to checking inflation control in Jayapura and Keerom regencies. ***
