JAYAPURA - The Papua Communication and Informatics Service has an agenda to collaborate with SMK Negeri 5 in Sarmi Regency to increase student capacity in the field of multimedia.
"SMK 5 has a multimedia department, we will collaborate with them. We will provide understanding and increase students' capacity in technology," said the Head of the Papua Communication and Informatics Office, Jeri A. Yudianto, in Jayapura, Wednesday (31/7/2024).
Jeri said that some schools in Sarmi Regency do not have internet access. So, the provision of VSAT facilities in schools is one of the quick solutions to overcome these conditions.
"Indeed, there are blank spots in several areas, so VSAT technology is the quick solution to use."
"This is done while waiting for the cellular operator to develop its business so that people can enjoy internet services," said Jeri.
He added that his party had provided VSAT assistance to several schools in Papua. The VSAT assistance was handed over to SMK 5 Sarmi Regency, during the visit of the Acting Governor of Papua and his staff.
"The VSAT assistance is part of the program to accelerate digital penetration in Papua. Not only schools, but also in several public service locations such as health centers, district offices and communities around the location at certain hours," he concluded. ***
