JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government has emphasized that the funding support for Re-voting comes from the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget, not from the reserve fund.
This clarification was delivered by the Acting Head of the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency of Papua, Alex Kapisa, in response to allegations that the provincial government used reserve funds to finance the revote.
"The regional government has not used the reserve fund at all. According to the regulations, the reserve fund is strictly allocated for the sectors of education, health, and the economy for indigenous Papuans," said Kapisa.
He stated that using the reserve fund to finance the re-vote would be a violation of the regulations and is therefore not permitted.
"We fully understand and comply with the regulations. According to the rules and provisions, the only funding sources allowed for implementing regional elections are the General Allocation Fund and the Regional Original Revenue," he explained.
Kapisa also mentioned that his office has conducted mapping and mitigation of potential funding sources that can be used to support the revote.
"In accordance with the regulations, we are still able to carry out efficiency measures within the existing regional budget structure," he concluded. ***
