JAYAPURA — The Papua Provincial Government has positioned Bank Papua as an important instrument in driving regional economic growth. Strengthening the bank's oversight function has become a major concern alongside efforts to improve its management and institutional structure.
Papua Governor Matius D. Fakhiri said that the role of the commissioners is crucial in ensuring that the bank's business direction remains sound and aligned with development needs.
"The oversight function must be carried out professionally and oriented toward regional development," Fakhiri said.
He reminded that coordination between the commissioners and the board of directors must run effectively so that policy-making does not stray from the main objective, namely, strengthening the bank's contribution to the community.
According to him, Bank Papua holds a strategic position because it is directly connected to financing productive sectors in the region.
"Bank Papua must become even stronger and be able to contribute to the welfare of the Papuan people," he said.
The statement was delivered following the inauguration of Alibaham Temongmere as Non-Independent Commissioner of PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Papua during an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (RUPS Luar Biasa) in Jayapura. ***
