JAYAPURA – COVID-19 task force of Papua confirmed that the daily rate of coronavirus transmission has now decreased.
Nevertheless, citizens are asked to continue to carry out health protocols as stipulated by the government.
"Keep your distance and use a mask in crowded public places”
"The point is that even though the number of cases has started to go down, it does not mean that the public should not apply health protocols well. Because we better prevent it," said Spokesman of Covid-19 task force of Papua, Silwanus Sumule, in Jayapura, Monday (1/11/2021).
According to Silwanus, in general Papua Province cannot be categorized as having achieved group immunity or herd immunity because vaccination coverage in most areas outside Jayapura city and Jayapura regency still around 24 percent.
"Jayapura city and Jayapura regency have good vaccination coverage enough, it reaches 65-70 percent."
"Therefore, whatever the reason for the application of health protocols should not be loose because in real terms transmission still occurs to this day," he stressed.
On that occasion, he appealed to government officials throughout Papua to continue to aggressively remind residents to carry out health protocols.
Because global transmission is still happening until now and the discovery of a new variant of the coronavirus.
"I think the importance of health protocols must always be conveyed to the community. And people should not let their guard down to take care of their health," he concluded. ***
