JAYAPURA – Gubernur Papua Matius D. Fakhiri meminta pengawasan distribusi bahan bakar minyak (BBM) diperketat menyusul penyesuaian harga BBM nonsubsidi.
Fakhiri mengatakan perubahan harga BBM berpotensi memengaruhi berbagai sektor ekonomi.
JAYAPURA – Papua Governor Matius D. Fakhiri has called for stricter monitoring of fuel distribution following adjustments to non-subsidized fuel prices. The measure aims to prevent hoarding and maintain economic stability for the community.
Fakhiri stated that changes in fuel prices can affect various sectors of the economy. Therefore, the regional government will strengthen supervision in coordination with relevant agencies.
"We will tighten monitoring to ensure that no parties attempt to manipulate the situation or engage in fuel hoarding," he said in Jayapura.
According to him, the impact of rising non-subsidized fuel prices will be felt more significantly by people who rely on private vehicles for long-distance travel. However, the government expects the overall impact on economic activities to remain limited.
He explained that the distribution of subsidized fuel, which is widely used by the transportation and freight sectors, must also receive close attention to ensure normal operations continue.
For this reason, the Papua Provincial Government will coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure that fuel supplies remain available and accessible in the field.
"We want to ensure that distribution runs smoothly so that it does not create a significant impact on the community's economy," he said.
The Governor expressed hope that these monitoring efforts would help maintain stability in fuel supply while supporting the smooth operation of economic activities throughout Papua. ***
