JAYAPURA - The Policy of Enacting Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) during August 2021 was declared successful in reducing the number of cases of COVID-19 transmission to 46.2 percent in Papua.
This is as revealed by the Spokesperson of the Papua COVID-19 Task Force, dr. Silwanus Sumule to the press, Monday (08/30/2021).
"After the implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities for one month, the average daily number of Covid-19 cases decreased by 46.2 percent"
"Or from 370 cases per day in July, to 119 cases per day in August 2021," Silwanus explained.
Not only transmission, the number of deaths due to COVID-19 also decreased. From 393 cases or 13 deaths per day, to 257 cases or 9 deaths per day.
"Even the number of Covid-19 positive patients treated is currently decreasing by 39 percent and the number of patients recovering from Covid-19 increased by 9.9 percent," he explained.
Silwanus added, if you look at the effective reproduction (Rt) of the corona virus in Papua which is at 0.96 points, it is predicted that in the next 30 days COVID-19 cases will continue to decrease.
"But there is a record that must be met by all of us, namely the efforts to comprehensively overcome COVID-19. And the community we hope to be more concerned and aware to fight the corona," Silwanus said.
It is known, the implementation of Level 4 Restrictions on Community Activities, is enforced in Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika and Merauke.
While Level 3 and Level 2 Restrictions on Community Activities are applied in 25 other districts. This policy is valid from August 2021 to September 6. ***
