JAYAPURA – Art and cultural actors or artists in Papua must be actively involved in the successful National Sports Week XX Papua 2021.

This was conveyed by Member of Commission I of the House of Representatives of Papua, Yonas Nusi at the Meeting of Kangen Seninam-Seniwati Tanah Papua Se Indonesia initiated by the DPD Committee of Cultural Arts Nusantara (KSBN) of Papua Province, in Jayapura City, Tuesday, August 31, 2021.

This Papuan artist meeting took place virtually and face-to-face while still implementing the Covid-19 health protocol.

Yonas Nusi said, in the implementation of National Sports Week XX and National Paralympic Week XVI need to involve Papuan artists. "The government and National Sports Week Committee must involve Papuan artists in succeeding National Sports Week XX in the land of Papua," said Yonas Nusi who is also chairman of the Committee of “Kangen Seniman-Seniwati Tanah Papua Se Indonesia''.

Furthermore, he invited art and cultural artists to participate in the success of National Sports Week by preparing his work, National Sports Week XX moment that will be held in a few weeks must be put to good use by artists in the Papua region.

The same thing was conveyed by the Chairman of the DPD KSBN of Papua Province, Metusalem Wopari said, KSBN is ready to succeed National Sports Week XX, on October 2-15.

Metusalem expects the committee to provide an exhibition booth or stand that will be used as an exhibition place for Papuan artwork.

"We ask for support from the committee to provide one exhibition venue at each venue for Papuan youth to show off their artwork," he hoped.
