JAYAPURA - National Sports Week XX Papua officially competes Softball for men, on Wednesday (09/22/2021) morning.

The inaugural match marked the start of the quadrennial national event in Indonesia, which brought together the Lampung team against Southeast Sulawesi at the Softball Field of Agus Kafiar Stadium of Cenderawasih University, Jayapura City.

With the inaugural match held, Chairman of National Sports Week Committee, Yunus Wonda said it had eliminated doubts and assumptions from all circles.

"So we are proud to convey that National Sports Week XX in Papua will be successful from opening to closing," said Yunus, on the sidelines of the match.

Chairman of the Sub-Committee of National Sports Week for Jayapura City, Benhur Tommy Mano who also attended also conveyed the same thing.

According to him, with the success of the first match by support from Central KONI, the Ministry of Sports and National Sports Week Committee of Papua, the first match can be started in the Jayapura City cluster.

"So we hope that the people of Jayapura City can support and succeed in this quadrennial event, by maintaining security and order," he urged.

The Chairman of Central KONI, Marciano Norman in Jayapura on Wednesday said it is not the same as the previous one, because it is still in a pandemic situation.

Therefore, he hopes the support of the organizing committee will make this event a unifying momentum of the nation and strengthen unity in the framework of the Republic of Indonesia.

While in the men's softball follow-up match, it competed against two other teams namely DKI Jakarta vs. West Papua and Banten vs. East Kalimantan. ***
