JAYAPURA - The implementation of National Sports Week XX 2021 was officially closed by Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Ma'ruf Amin, Friday (15/20/2021) at 19:41 Eastern Zone Time at Lukas Enembe Stadium, Kampung Harapan, Jayapura Regency.

In his speech, Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ma'ruf Amin revealed three important notes that make the implementation of National Sports Week XX 2021 which has been successfully held from October 2 to 15, 2021 is not easy to do.

The three important records are to support National Sports Week XX, the development of sports infrastructure carried out is very massive with international quality standards.

Second, the location of National Sports Week XX venue with 44 arenas spread across four clusters namely Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika Regency and Merauke Regency which makes the national event this time very unique.

"And the distance between the venues is the furthest and has never been in the implementation of National Sports Week so far," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin.

The third note, that event is held in the condition of the Covid-19 pandemic which demands extra work with the implementation of strict health protocols but can be implemented until it is completed very well.

"For me, this is the hardest event that can be held but it turns out that Papuans are not only able to organize it but even managed to organize it perfectly," he said.

He also congratulated the people of Papua because the successful implementation of National Sports Week XX has shown that Papua is not only in line with the provinces in Indonesia but in some aspects it is superior.

"This is in accordance with the motto Torang Bisa not only motto but real and proven," added Ma'ruf Amin.

Some other important records in the national event 2021 in Papua are, Central KONI recorded there are 60 new records created in National Sports Week XX. Five of them are created in diving sports.

From 37 sports, 65 disciplines and 681 match numbers, West Java Province became the general champion and the 2024 National Sports Week XXI event will be held in Aceh and North Sumatra. ***
