JAYAPURA - The Central Government in the remaining three months will prepare assistance in the form of additional special cash for extreme poor households in five priority districts of Papua Province using the data now available.
According to Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, for this special program in 2021, the government will use the Sembako and Direct Cash Transfer Programs to provide additional support for extreme poor groups in 5 priority districts.
"Because related to the acceleration of welfare development in Papua, in accordance with the mandate of Presidential Decree No. 9 of 2020, we must provide real change and the results can really be felt, especially for Indigenous Papuans (OAP), which is pursued through a strategy of accelerating welfare development that relies on 5 policy frameworks, namely: superior human resource development, transformation and economic development, infrastructure development, preservation of environmental quality, and governance," said the Vice President in Jayapura, Saturday (10/16/2021).
The Vice President on that occasion requested that the governor and all regents of priority areas in the rest of 2021 in Papua, to be able to work hard to ensure all extreme poor households receive the entire central program, expense reduction programs and empowerment programs.
"The governor and the regents should also strengthen the planning and budgeting of extreme poverty reduction programs in their respective regional budget, especially those in accordance with the characteristics of extreme poverty in their respective regions," he stressed.
After officially closing of National Sports Week XX 2021 Papua, Vice President K.H Ma'ruf Amin on Saturday held a dialogue with community leaders, provincial and regency/city leaders in Papua to discuss two important agendas, namely, extreme poverty reduction and acceleration of welfare development in Papua Province.
The dialogue was attended by the Governor of Papua and the Regents whose regions were made a priority in extreme poverty reduction in 2021, namely Jayawijaya, Puncak Jaya, Lanny Jaya, Mamberamo Tengah and Deiyai.
This dialogue is a series of working visits in Papua Province in the framework of a coordination meeting to accelerate welfare development in Papua and West Papua in accordance with Presidential Instruction No. 9 of 2020, as well as to discuss the Government's priorities for extreme poverty reduction in 2021 aimed at alleviating extreme poverty to zero percent by 2024.
Papua is one of the seven priority provinces for extreme poverty reduction in 2021, previously the Vice President has made working visits in East Java, West Java, Central Java, Maluku and West Papua, which after in Papua will continue to NTT Province. ***
