JAYAPURA – The Ministry of Finance gave awards to nine local governments (Regional Government) in Papua, which consecutively received five times the predicate of Fair Opinion Without Exception (WTP) by the Indonesian Audit Board (BPK).
Appreciation in the form of an award plaque from the Minister of Finance was handed over by the Head of the Directorate General of Treasury of Papua Province, Monday (18/10/2021), in Jayapura,
"But I remind you that the achievement of WTP must be accompanied by quality. If not, it will go back to Normal With Exceptions (WDP) in the coming year".
"In essence, not just looking for a charter or award plaque, but must be accompanied by a quality WTP, where financial management is carried out in a transparent and accountable manner," Burhani said.
The nine consecutive WTP opinion-winning local governments are the Provincial Government of Papua, Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Asmat, Jayawijaya, Merauke, Mimika, Yapen Islands and Nabire.
Simultaneously, the Minister of Finance also gave a similar award charter to nine other local governments, which in the management last year received WTP opinion from the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia.
"We hope that this award can motivate other local governments in Papua who have not received WTP".
"Because in Papua there are still 12 local governments that have not reached WTP opinion," he hoped.
While the Governor of Papua Lukas Enembe assessed the WTP award achieved by 18 local governments in Papua, it is the result of the hard work of all relevant parties in an effort to improve the quality and public services and governance.
So it is expected that other local governments that do not have WTP can be motivated and encouraged to continue to prioritize the public interest, through improving the quality of governance and sustainable innovation.
Meanwhile, Regional Secretary of Yalimo Isak Yando after receiving the award ensured that he would continue to maintain the WTP opinion that had been achieved in the last three years.
"We are optimistic, we can follow in the footsteps of other local governments who have five times in a row received WTP opinion," he said. ***
