JAYAPURA – A number of coffee importers from Czech, reportedly interested in marketing Papuan coffee to Europe.
The interest was expressed by the Chairman of Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Papua, Ronald Antonio, Thursday (11/11/2021), in Prague, Czech Republic, local time, after meeting Mr. Jakub Fiala, one of the coffee importers in Europe.
Chairman of Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Papua, Ronald Antonio attended a forum meeting with several Czech investors or "The Czech-Indonesian Business Forum" in Czech Prague.
"We have met and negotiated, the results are encouraging, European importers are interested in Papuan coffee. And on that occasion they immediately ordered several types of coffee as a business opportunity trial."
"So that later upon his return to Papua, we immediately communicated with the people and partners of Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Papua engaged in coffee production to fulfill the order," Ronald explained.
Ronald said the effort was one of the forms of support of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Papua to the vision and mission of Governor Enembe to create Papua rising, independent and prosperous in the economic field.
"So through this business forum we not only attend but look for markets in Europe. And later we will meet coffee businessmen who we can work with."
"Not only sellers and buyers but up to the point of cooperation in the transfer of knowledge and technology of coffee farming, ranging from upstream to downstream," Ronal said.
While from business-to-business negotiation activities that have been running, Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Papua also gets other request offers such as durian exports, chili and other products.
This business forum activity in addition to strengthening bilateral relations through a virtual business forum organized by Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Czech Chamber of Commerce facilitated by the Indonesian Embassy in Indonesia for Czech Republic, became a forum for various companies to establish relations and conduct business-to-business negotiations.
"We are very grateful to Kenssy D. Ekaningsih, the Indonesian Ambassador to the Czech Republic who facilitated this forum, so that we get the opportunity to partner businesses in Czech and Europe," said Ronal accompanied by Vice Chairman of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Papua, Leo Dapot Siahaan.
While Jakub Fiala, a large coffee distributor in Europe assesses Indonesian coffee commodities, Papua has opportunities to expand exports to the Czech Republic and also Europe. This is due to the variety of the taste and aroma of Papuan coffee.
"It means that coffee from Papua has a bright future in the European region"
"So we hope that the meeting will be the first step and sustainable business for us to do in the future," he said. ***
