JAYAPURA - The Papua Provincial Government together with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) officially launched the Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) of the Papua Provincial Government named PAPUAPROV-CSIRT, Thursday (11/25/2021).
It is launched by the Regional Secretary of Papua, Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun together with the Head of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), Lieutenant General of Indonesian National Armed Forces (purn) Hinsa Siburian, in one of the hotels, Jayapura City.
Secretary Ridwan in his speech hoped that with the formation of PAPUA PROV-CSIRT, it could prevent and minimize the occurrence of cyber incidents in Papua. It can also improve the data security, information and networks in the Papua Provincial Government.
"We congratulate the Communication and Informatics Department of Papua Provincial for successfully bringing the Papua Provincial Government into CSIRT and thank the National Cyber and Crypto Agency for the appreciation and trust given to us to form CSIRT," he said.
The head of National Cyber and Crypto Agency, Lieutenant General of Indonesian National Armed Forces (purn) Hinsa Siburian, assessed that the current cyber threat has been higher along with the development of digital technology. Therefore, he continued, a team is needed that can anticipate various cyber threats.
"The local government has already used digitalization technology in running the wheels of its government. Of course, there must be someone who secures and monitors whether there are cyber threats, such as malware that can interfere with the system. Well so in Papua later threats like this are the duty of PAPUA PROV-CSIRT in Papua," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Communication and Informatics Department of Papua, Jeri A. Yudianto stated that he was ready to carry out the mandate given to him. He immediately prepares cyber resilience instruments in Papua ranging from electrical systems, firewall setup and other related matters.
The Communication and Informatics Department as the leading cyber security sector in Papua, continued Jeri, will be ready 1x24 hours to ward off and control cyber-attacks, more specifically on data owned by the provincial government.
"That's why we will in the near future also prepare management services, we will perform or provide services in the form of capacity building. That is, not only technology, Human Resources must also be updated to respond to the technological developments that occur today," he said. ***
