JAYAPURA - Papua Governor Lukas Enembe appreciated regional heads in the four clusters organizing the National Sports Week (PON) XX and the XVI National Paralympic Week (PEPARNAS) in 2021.
The four regional heads, namely the Mayor of Jayapura, the Regent of Jayapura, the Regent of Mimika and the Regent of Merauke who have worked hard to succeed in the implementation of the two national events.
While the form of appreciation of the governor was in the form of the award charter of the four regional heads, which was submitted right at the implementation of Christmas celebration and Thanksgiving of PON XX-Peparnas XVI in Papua Bangkit Stadium, Kampung Harapan, East Sentani District, Jayapura Regency, Wednesday (1/26/2022) night.
The governor was still at the same event and also handed rewards to PON and PEPARNAS athletes who won medals. The results of the implementation of National Sports Week and National Paralympic Week in Papua this time, were very successful and even exceeded the target.
"The Papua team won the fourth and the general champion in National Sports Week and National Paralympic Week. This is all God's help, it must be maintained and improved on the implementation of similar events in Aceh-North Sumatra," he said.
Therefore, Lukas appealed to KONI Papua Province to immediately prepare tough athletes to be able to compete in National Sports Week of Aceh and North Sumatra.
While the Chairman of the Joint Christmas Committee and Gratitude National Sports Week and National Paralympic Week also Chairman Committee of National Paralympic Week XVI of Papua Doren Wakerkwa said his party also expressed his gratitude to the National Armed Forces-Police who provided extraordinary support so that National Paralympic Week could be carried out in a safe and conducive situation.
Meanwhile, the celebration of Christmas with State Civil Apparatus (ASN), National Armed Forces-Police and the community and gratitude for the successful implementation of National Sports Week and National Paralympic Week was attended by thousands of people from Jayapura and surrounding areas as well as representatives from all districts and cities in Papua.
