JAYAPURA - As many as 4,000 masks were distributed for free to the public, in an effort to socialize the prevention of COVID-19 virus transmission, which in the past month jumped significantly in Jayapura City.
The mask was distributed, Satpol PP and Disaster Management of Papua Province, at two points in Jayapura City, Wednesday (2/16/2022).
Head of Satpol PP and Disaster Management of Papua Province, Welliam R Manderi said, the mask sharing action held at the traffic light of Dok II and the Brimob Headquarters area of the Papua Police, is a series of activities to socialize wearing masks in suppressing the rate of COVID transmission.
“In this action we also provide socialization regarding the discipline of health protocols, especially wearing masks, because many people are too lazy to wear masks," said Manderi.
Still, according to Manderi, the mask sharing action is one of the steps taken by the Papua Provincial Government in responding to the surge in Covid-19 cases, especially in Jayapura City.
"Moreover, in the past month there has been a significant increase in Covid-19 cases in Jayapura City. Therefore, preventive measures become an important part of society," he said.
Manderi said through this action, it is expected that the public is more aware in implementing health protocols, given the surge in cases in Jayapura City which is currently increasing significantly. ***
