Jayapura - Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe had the opportunity to attend and inaugurate the new building of Yahukimo Student Dormitory in East Jakarta, Friday (25/02/2022).
Together with the Regent of Yahukimo, Didimus Yahuli, Governor Enembe signed the inauguration inscription as well as opening the curtain of the name of the Dormitory located in the Batuampar - Condet complex.
In front of the Governor of Papua, Regent Didimus explained, Yahukimo student dormitory in Condet, is an asset belonging to the Yahukimo Regency Government that was purchased since the leadership of Regent Onesh Pahabol. The construction of the dormitory took 5 months, after he received a photo of the condition of the building that was not habitable.
"So at that time I ordered the Head of housing office to move immediately, and the dormitory that we now see together is the eldest fruit of development for the recovery of Yahukimo," said Regent Didimus.
Regent Didimus admitted, the construction of Yahukimo Student Dormitory in Condet became the initial door of government attention to Yahukimo students who studied outside the area.
In the future, the government has planned the same development in the study city from Sabang to Merauke, with a note, the land belongs to the Yahukimo Regency government.
"So where there is a study city land that has been certified by the local government, then the government will build a decent and appropriate dormitory for younger students. This is a form of government attention, so they get a decent place while studying in the city of study," he explained.
The Regent also hopes all students who inhabit and live in the Dormitory to make it a house of prayer, a study house to increase the index of human achievement in Yahukimo Regency.
Before closing his delivery, Regent Didimus admitted that the construction of the building was done on the basis of courage.
"We do not have a budget, and this is only the capital, so in 2022 I ordered to pay off partners who have helped the government build homes for younger students during their education in this city," he explained.
In line with the Regent, the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe also hopes that the student dormitory will be used as a house of prayer and learning for all students who inhabit the dormitory.
According to him, education is very important, especially for the young generation of Papua to focus on learning to complete their education and return to contribute in their home region of Yahukimo Regency.
"So this is your home, a house of prayer and a house of study. I am grateful that God brought Onesh to prepare this place, and brought Didimus to build and prepare this dormitory for the children of our next generation in the future," said Governor Enembe.
The Papuan Student Dormitory has a building area of about 403.46 square meters. The dormitory can be inhabited by 22 students or up 50 percent from its previous capacity.
In a report submitted by the Head of housing office, Jan Chistian Wanimbo said the dormitory which originally had a building of 265.84 square meters was completely overhauled, and was built with a modern two-story minimalist house design. The dormitory has 11 rooms, each room can be filled with 3 residents.
"We have also equipped the dormitory with Wi-Fi facilities, two vehicles, home stuff and kitchen facilities," he said, briefly.
He also claimed that the construction of the Yahukimo Student Dormitory in Condet was included in the 100-day working program of the leadership of Regent Didimus and Vice Regent Esau Miram.
Head of Education Department Akso Balingga said after being inaugurated, Yahukimo students of Jabodetabek region can occupy the dormitory. The government also, Aksa said, has recorded the number of students who will live in the location, with consideration as a priority scale.
"The number of Yahukimo students studying in this city is quite a lot, so we will make one classification because not all students can live in this dormitory," he said.
He added, in terms of future management the government will monitor directly through the head of the dormitory which will later be appointed through the Decree of the Regent of Yahukimo Regency.
"So we hope students who will later live in this dormitory will always keep this building better, and in the future can be occupied by other students," he explained.
It is known that the inauguration of the Yahukimo Students Dormitory representative of Jabodetabek was also attended by a number of Local Government Work Unit leaders and representatives of the Regional People's Representatives Council, the Papuan Parliament from Yahukimo and the leadership of Political Parties in Yahukimo Regency.
