JAYAPURA - The Russian government has announced the addition of a special scholarship slot for indigenous Papuan students who want to study in the "Red Bear" country.
This was conveyed by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Indonesia Lyudmila Vorobyeva, when meeting the Governor of Papua Lukas Enembe, Monday (28/3/2022) in Jakarta.
"During the meeting, Ambassador Lyudmila Vorobyeva conveyed her discourse regarding the addition of special scholarship slots from the Russian Government for indigenous Papuan children"
"This is certainly welcomed by Governor Lukas Enembe because education is an important foundation for the Land of Papua to be able to grow and move forward," said Spokesman for the Governor of Papua M. Rifai Darus, in a release received by the editor on Monday afternoon.
It is known, Monday (28/3) at 14.00-15.30, the Governor of Papua Province Lukas Enembe accompanied by Samuel Tabuni (CEO of Papua Language Institute), Alex Kapisa (Head of the Papua Provincial Liaison Agency in Jakarta) and Muhammad Rifai Darus (Spokesman for the Governor of Papua) met with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Indonesia Lyudmila Vorobyeva.
Governor Lukas, still according to Spokesman Rifai, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception so far from the Russian Federation, more specifically to Papuan students who have the opportunity to study higher education in the country.
Lukas expressed his admiration for the scholarship program from the Russian Government through the Russian Center for Science and Culture, which is consistently given to Indonesian children and includes several Indigenous Papuan children, even the plan to add slots.
"Governor Lukas Enembe also left to Ambassador Lyudmila Vorobyeva to be conveyed to the Government of the Russian Federation to always maintain and provide a sense of security to all Indigenous Papuan children who are now studying higher education in Russia, both those who get scholarships from the Russian Government and scholarships from the Papua Provincial Government," said The Spokesman.
