JAYAPURA - The Papua Provincial Government is certain to immediately grant 70 ex PON XX Papua buses that are now parked at the Lukas Enembe Stadium complex, Kampung Harapan, Sentani Jayapura Regency.
According to Acting Head of the Papua Provincial Transportation Department, David Telenggen, dozens of former PON buses will be given to religious institutions, schools, foundations and organizations in need.
Nevertheless, its submission is still awaiting approval from the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia.
"In accordance with the direction of Papua Governor Lukas Enembe, the bus will be used for assistance for community, religious institutions and related organizations".
"But this is all still in progress and this grant application letter was paraphrased by the Secretary of Papua yesterday. Maybe in the near future it will be delivered to the Ministry of Transportation (to ask for approval), after that it is distributed," David Telenggen told the press, Tuesday (29/3/2022).
According to David, there are currently about 600 more grant proposals for ex-PON buses, both from religious elements, community organizations, and educational foundations including religious leaders.
In fact, the buses will be granted only 70 units. So that the rule will be handed over to the Governor of Papua as the regional head.
"This means that the bus will be handed over to which institution, it is the right and decision of the governor. Of course, we will prepare supporting data and suggestions related to the grant recipients of the ex-PON bus, for the decision to be handed over to the Governor of Papua," he explained.
Previously, about 70 ex-PON Papua buses were currently parked at the Lukas Enembe Stadium complex in Jayapura Regency, following the expiry of the parking land use contract at PTC.
