JAYAPURA - Nahor Nekwek and Mr. John W Wilil were officially inaugurated as Regent and Deputy Regent of Yalimo for the period 2022 - 2024, at the Ministry of Home Affairs Building, Jakarta, Friday (1/4/2022), around 17.00 Western Indonesian Time.
This pair of regional heads, inaugurated by The Governor of Papua Lukas Enembe witnessed by officials at the Ministry of Home Affairs as well as the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum and Regional Apparatus Organization leaders in the Yalimo Regency Regional Government.
In his speech, Lukas said there was now no longer any reason for Yalimo Regency to continue to exist in a prolonged political conflict. "Because it is time for all the elements in Yalimo to unite towards a better Yalimo," Luke explained on the sidelines of the inauguration.
Still, said Lukas, the Yalimo election has captured the attention of the public throughout Indonesia, but in Papua, the election of the regional head that lasted a long time is one form of commitment to control democracy, although it must go through many people's sacrifices.
So because of the commitment of the Yalimo people, the newly appointed regional leadership is encouraged to be able to "envelop" its territory with peace in the frame of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. And put the national interest above all else."
"But local interests must also be harmonized so that everything can go hand in hand towards ‘Indonesia Emas’ 2045," he said.
Finally, the governor reminded the Regent and Deputy Regent to run the government based on the constitution, and always obey God. ***
