JAYAPURA - The Papua Provincial Government guarantees the availability of Staples Food ahead of the Eid al-Fitr holiday in May 2022.
In this regard, Assistant of Regional Secretary of Papua for Development and Social Welfare, Muhammad Musa'ad asked the public to use their right to shop reasonably.
"There is no need to panic buying or making excessive purchases (hoarding) because everything is under control. All available until the completion of Eid al-Fitr will be all safe," said Musa'ad in Jayapura, Tuesday (12/4/2022).
According to Musa'ad, the Papua Provincial Government together with relevant agencies are seriously discussing the issue of price stability and supply of staple food during Ramadan and ahead of Eid al-Fitr in 2022.
The parties include, Bank Indonesia, Aprindo and Local Logistics Affairs Agency.
In addition to staple food, also discussed the issue of inflation that affects purchasing power and aspects of welfare for the people of Papua. He hopes that inflation in Papua remains under control, so that Papua becomes the best in the Sulampua region.
"Although indeed we do not deny if there are some staples that have increased selling prices. Only the price increase is still considered feasible or reachable."
"The government will also continue to maintain stock stability and price stability of goods in Papua during Ramadan and ahead of Eid al-Fitr, including price stability," he said.
While asked about the hoarding carried out deliberately, he ensured that the person concerned would deal with the Food Task Force.
"There will be decisive action or legal action for those who hoard. But still we urge citizens to buy necessities reasonably. So that the existing stock is not disturbed," he said.
